Rushden Cavalcade
31st Annual Rushden Cavalcade of Transport
Over the Early May Bank Holiday, 2, 3 & 4 May is the 31st Cavalcade of Historical Transport
held just off the A6 south of Rushden. With well over 1000 exhibits which include large and small
steam engines, stationary engines, military vehicles, commercials, cars from 1924 to 1981, motor
cycles and tractors there is something to whet the appetite of all who have an interest in historic
transport. For those whose interests are not necessarily transport related there will be displays
of period caravans, models, crafts, working displays, animal displays, charity stands, organs and
a vintage fair. There are a large number of trade stands and catering stalls to suite all tastes,
not forgetting a Real Ale Bar and Lager Bar.
This year will see the re-launch of Phipps Red Star beer which was originally brewed by the Northampton Brewery Co.
Besides the usual parade of vehicles in the arena there will be a display by a junior motorcycle team, dog displays and for the first time a demonstration by Rushden Young Firefighters with St John Ambulance.
Admission is:- Family (2 adults + 2 children) £15.00, Adults £6.00,
Senior Citizens & Children 5 to 16 £4.00
Car parking is free and only a short walk from the Show site and the organisers would ask that those attending do not park in Avenue Road.
Three road runs take place over the weekend each ending back at the Cavalcade site. On Saturday the start is at Sanders Lodge industrial site at 12 noon, on Sunday the start is the car/lorry park off Kingsway, Bedford leaving at 10.30am and on Monday the run leaves the Riverside carpark at St. Neots again at 10.30am. There are good photographic locations to be found on the A6 on Sunday and the B645 on Monday.
All money raised goes to improve and extend the facilities at Rushden Transport Museum including the railway and to purchase further transport artefacts and to repair and maintain those already on display or waiting to be displayed.
